The identify of a wine depends on a few factors. These factors affect the taste of the wine, giving them an unique taste. Below are the factors which affect its taste.

- There are about 10 000 variety of wine grape in the world. These grape are main ingredients to the making of wines there before affecting the identify of wine.
- Only less then 100 of these variety are used by wine producers.
- Varietal means wines that are produced from the same type of grape.

Geographically
- In some countries, wine are characterized by their locations instead of the variety of wines. If a wine as made in europe it may be named as Burgundy ( a region situated at France and Switzeland ) instead of Pinot Noir ( a red wine grape variety ).
- Wines which are characterized by their location is just the same as those characterized by their grape variety as the soil and climate in the region affect the taste of it.
