Reading the Labels
The labels on the wine bottle gave consumers knowledge on the type of wine he is buying even without tasting it. The information give by the labels will help us buy the variety of wine we like to drink.
The Front Label Contains :
- Quality classification ( e.g Grand Eru , Premier Eru )
- Region of origin ( e.g santa maria valley )
- Alcohol Concentration
- Year of Vintage ( harvest )
- The name and address of the wine maker
- Size of bottle
Some wines may have health warning like those containing sulphites . Sulphur is added to wine to prevent the alcohol from turning into acids. The sulphur contained in wines are usually traces and not really harmful.
Wine is bottled in many places , there are many variation to the labels as some countries in Europe have their own labeling system compared to other countries like Austrailia. The above mention labels are just the most common in wine bottles.
